Sheet metal
Rigid galvanized steel. Smooth inside, strong and long lasting. Seams and joints need to be sealed, and the duct needs insulation where it runs through a hot attic or crawl space.
Often used for trunk lines and plenums.
Your ducts carry every bit of heated and cooled air to your rooms.
Ductwork
Your heating and cooling system makes warm or cool air in one place. Ducts carry that air to each room, and return ducts bring it back to be heated or cooled again. Leaks, crushed runs and poor connections mean you pay to condition air that never reaches the room.
Duct types
A home can have more than one kind. Here is what each one is and where it is usually used.
Rigid galvanized steel. Smooth inside, strong and long lasting. Seams and joints need to be sealed, and the duct needs insulation where it runs through a hot attic or crawl space.
Often used for trunk lines and plenums.
A wire coil inside a plastic liner, wrapped in insulation and an outer jacket. Quick to route around attic framing. It needs to be pulled tight and supported, because sags and kinks cut the airflow.
Often used for branch runs to each room.
Rigid fiberglass panels with a foil face, cut and taped into boxes and runs. The board is its own insulation and quiets air noise. The inside surface is not as smooth as metal, and the board must be kept dry.
Often used for plenums and some trunk lines.
How it works
Ducts are the air highways in your house. One big main road leaves the unit, and smaller side roads go to each room.
The main supply duct, usually rectangular sheet metal, that carries air away from the air handler.
A box built from rigid fiberglass duct board where air leaves the air handler and enters the duct system.
Round flexible duct that branches from the trunk to each room.
A grille and duct that bring room air back to the air handler to be heated or cooled again.
Duct work
We repair and install ductwork, and we clean ducts. We offer $150 off duct cleaning and $500 off a new duct system. Call to confirm eligibility and terms.

I found this company on the internet. The owner himself came out to my house and gave me an estimate on a mini split unit for my sun porch. And told me what unit would be best for my sun porch. It was a very good price, and I agreed to have it installed. Within 2 days after that, they were here to install the unit. The installing crew was very professional. And they've done a very fantastic job in installing my unit. I highly recommend ARCTIC AIR CONDITIONING. GEORGE WOODBERRY 12/18/25
My initial phone call for repair was followed up immediately with a phone call to set up an appointment for the afternoon of the same day since repairmen were already working in the area. Daniel and Tyler arrived on time, and were very polite and helpful. I thought the cost was a very good price for the quality of service. It was a pleasure to do business with them.
I was looking for someone local to help me replace my 22000 BTU Copeland compressor in my boats Salon AC split system. Tyler came out to review my project. He set up another appointment to complete the exchange and evacuation and re charge of the unit . His attentiveness and ethics I appreciate. I am very pleased with his service.
